Music Marketing Project- Brainstorming and Planning

Music Marketing Project- Creating Violet Hart

The first thing to happen in our project was us drawing rock as our genre. After this, we immediately sat down to discuss what type of artist we wanted to create. We decided on an 18-year-old solo artist. As we researched music companies, rock artists they represented, and listened to the song we chose, a clearer picture of our artist and her marketing campaign emerged to us, which we detailed in Word documents, which were used heavily in the organizing of our project. We used Word to create the basic storyline of our music video, brainstorm ideas about the marketing campaign, and create a plan for our presentation. We used our time in class to talk to each other and fill up these documents with details about our artist.

The next thing we did was listen to our song a few times to understand what the message was and the story it was telling. We decided a mix of promotional and storytelling techniques should be used in the creation of our music video. The song is about a daughter talking to her mother after running away from home at a young age to pursue her dreams of making music, which she later achieved. Our music video was going to tell that story with part of it being promotional of our artist singing the song, and the other half being the story of her running away, which ties into the promotional part of the video as that is supposed to be her after having run away and having secured a record deal (also showcased in the video). We planned this all on a Word document, detailing everything from the story of our video to the color clothes each character wears.

We then coordinated times to meet up to film our music video, which has been the most challenging aspect of this project. We had a great plan about what to film, where to film it, and everything we would need, but finding a time at which all of us could meet and get it done was a struggle. But we managed to settle on two days we could all get together and film the whole video. We would film the scenes of our artist running away on Thursday at one of our member's house, and film the promotional part and the final part of the story on Sunday, giving our editor 3 days to finish editing.

In the meantime, we have been working on the outline of our artist's brand. All of our ideas and plans have been written down in a Word document which is being used to structure our Canva presentation. Finishing the brand and marketing campaign is the next step along with filling our Canva slides up with information and samples. Creating the samples is a big part of our next step. I created a sample of merch that would be sold on our artist's website, and pictures and videos are being taken to be put on social media platforms such as Instagram, Youtube, and Tiktok. A picture is also being taken to be used as an album cover for a CD.
